How to evaluate a creator resource license
Understand ownership, redistribution permissions, attribution, commercial use, and license checks for Roblox Studio resources.
Ownership is not the same as access
Being able to view or download a file does not automatically grant permission to redistribute it, modify it, use it commercially, or include it in another project. Confirm the rights holder and exact permissions.
Record the complete license
Keep a copy or stable reference to the license text and record the version or date checked. Note whether the license permits commercial use, modification, redistribution, sublicensing, and attribution removal.
Attribution requirements
If attribution is required, capture the exact name, wording, link, and placement requested by the creator. Preserve notices included with original files.
Third-party and branded content
A creator may not own every element included in a file. Check textures, fonts, audio, models, logos, and other embedded content separately.
When the license is unclear
Do not publish the file until the rights holder clarifies the terms in writing. Avoid relying on unsupported claims that an asset is free.
This guide is not legal advice
Licensing rules vary by jurisdiction and situation. Seek qualified legal advice for commercial distribution or disputed ownership.
